HMS has been trading in the road maintenance and construction industry sector for over 30 years, carrying out all types of maintenance, improvements and repairs across the highways network.

More recently, predominantly over the last decade, the business has expanded enormously, taking on the role of one of the Midlands, if not the UK’s largest and most comprehensive provider and installer of resin bound and resin bonded paving systems, utilising our own-branded materials and in-house fully qualified installation teams.

Resin bound and resin bonded paving now forms a larger percentage of our business than any other product or process, and we are the largest UK installer using our own branded products and directly employed workforce, both commercially and for the domestic market.

Over the intervening years we have worked with a huge variety of clients, to include local authorities, main contractors, The Royal Parks, surfacing contractors, private schools and hospital groups, English Heritage and a whole host of house builder and private developers, as well as the domestic market.

Throughout this time we have listened to the requirements of our clients, and as a result have introduced numerous trading standards and accreditations such as CHAS health and safety, Quality Management System ISO 9001:2015, and Constructionline Gold Award. All of our directly employed operatives are CSCS Skilled Worker cards holders, and have NVQ’s across several relevant sectors.

Trends for colours and finishes have changed over time, but our dedication to quality workmanship, good business and reliability remains ever the same. Along with delivering projects to be best possible standard, HMS are also continually improving our economic and environmental standing, with measures such as recycling schemes, specialist emissions filters on our vehicles and a dedicated strategy for reducing our carbon footprint.

Some of our more high profile project over the last ten years have included prestigious locations such as the National Memorial Arboretum in Alrewas, Staffordshire, Kensington Gardens, Mount Walk and Hyde Park, plus the 7/7 Bombings Memorial (The Royal Parks), development of the Olympic Park site, Chatsworth House in Derbyshire, Brize Norton RAF Base, BAE System in Cumbria, London Wall in Belgravia, and The National Maritime Museum. This is of course in addition to the tens of thousands of meters laid nationally for home builders, commercial clients and home owners throughout the UK.

In October 2018 we opened our showroom which stocks all the materials and equipment required to carry out resin surfacing installations. It means smaller businesses or competent DIY enthusiasts can get expert help and support plus products direct from HMS. Customers and the public can view large-scale examples of our finishes and speak to knowledgeable industry professionals about the range of products available. We run bespoke training days for those who wish to add resin based surfacing to their own business portfolio, using HMS products for Resin Bound or Resin Bonded surfacing.
