The River Gardens is a large scale development of apartments, retail and leisure facilities in Greenwich, overlooking the Thames. The Bellway Homes development is situated right on the waterfront between Morden Wharf and the Maritime Museum, home of the Cutty Sark. Views from the site include the unrivalled city-scape of Canary Wharf and the O2 Arena to name a few.
Running adjacent to the development is part of the Thames Path and Cycle network, one of the final stretches before ending at the Thames Barrier.
The Thames Path is a long distance walking trail, following England’s best known river for 184 miles as it meanders from its source in the Cotswolds through several rural counties and on into the heart of London. On its way the Trail passes peaceful water meadows rich in wildlife, historic towns and cities and many lovely villages, finishing at the Thames Barrier in Woolwich just a few miles from the sea.
Due to the prestigious location and abundance of regular and visiting users, the material chosen for this stretch of the adoptable route has been specified to the highest level.
HMS has just completed Phase 2 of the footpath and cycleway surfacing, using a bespoke blend of naturally sourced aggregates, including stunning green ‘Alpi Verde’ marble, obtained directly from its origin source in Italy!
The vibrant green marble cycle route sits directly against the pale gold of the quartz footpaths, together creating a seamless, ultra-contemporary and porous resin bound paving system. Fully encapsulated surfacing offers extreme durability coupled with a totally smooth finish, meaning no loose aggregates or trip hazards – perfect for walkers, cyclists, runners and those using pushchairs or mobility equipment.
Works are still ongoing on this site, with the next phase of the Thames Path due to continue its refurbishment journey early next year.
